Haute Route on skis - 7 days trip

We spend one night in Chamonix, then we will have 7 days of ski touring and 6 nights in mountain huts between Chamonix and Zermatt. Nice dinners are served in all huts and most of them have showers.

Day 1: We meet in the evening and check our equipment.

Day 2: For our first ascent we take the lift from Argentiere to the top of Grand Montets. From the top station (3280m) we ski down onto the Argentiere Glacier. From there we ascend the col du Chardonet (3323m). Over the col du Saleina we reach the Trient hut (3170m) where we spend our second night.
1050m ascent, 1030m descent

Day 3: Our second day touring we start with a descent along the Trient glacier down to Champex. From there we take the train and the lift to Verbier. Where we will have some time to restock on chocolate and muesli bars. A short ascent takes us to the Cabane Montfort (2457m)
200m ascent, 1700m descent

Day 4: Over the col Chaux and the col de Momin we climb the Rosablanche (3336m). From there we get to ski some beautiful slopes down to the Cabane du Prafluri, where they make some great rösti.
1100m ascent, 980m descent

Day 5: Over the col des Roux and along the Lac Dix we ascend to the Dix hut (2928m).
5h ascent

Day 6: From the Dix hut we climb the Pigne d'Arolla (3790m), which will be the highest point of the week. From there we get some nice turns down to the Vignettes hut (3194m).
900m ascent, 600m descent

Day 7: Vignettes hut to Zermatt.
The last day is long, 30km, 3 cols and we cross 7 different glaciers. The total ascent is about 1100m (about 8h).

Day 8: This day is reserved to be our weather back up day. In case the weather should not allow us to reach a hut on a certain day it would still be great to arrive in Zermatt . If everything works well we have a spare day where we can enjoy some off-piste skiing / ski touring in Chamonix.
