Punta Helbronner skiing We already had a few days of great powder skiing at Punta Helbronner this week. Today we want to ski the south face of Aiguille d'Entreve and back to Glacier de Toule.
South face of Aiguille d'Entreve From the Helbronner top station we get a good look at the run. Already we know it will be good!
ski touring col d'Entreve After a short ski down to the Cirque Maudit we hike 30 min up to the Col d'Entreve. Time to get used to the altitude again...
Col d'Entreve skiing At the col the skis needs to come off and the crampons on.
Reluctantly Kaj agrees to put the skis on the backpack for a while, but he really prefers to keep them on in most terrain!
Skiing Aig de Entreve The view we get of the Italian Alps really confirms that the ski season is here, beautiful!
ski mountaineering Helbronner The climb looks different to what we are used to in summertime. And climbing with all the ski gear I find a bit more complicated, but fun.
ski mountaineering Helbronner Kaj on the crux section.
Squeezing though the blocs with the bulky backpack he's wondering if he can not put on his skis soon?
Skiing Aig de Entreve Finally we are ready to ski! Jimmy and Kaj looking very impatient to point their skis down towards the Toule glacier far below.
skiing Aig de Entreve Jimmy on the first 40 degree pitch down to the shoulder. The deep powder sticking perfectly to the steep face.
skiing Aig de Entreve Stopping on the shoulder I get a quick shot of Wolfgang charging by, non-stop down to the glacier.
skiing powder Helbronner And Kaj already all the way down by the bergschrund.
skiing powder Helbronner The lower parts of the Toule Glacier still offers deep and light powder to play in. And we do have the mountain more or less to ourselves.
Lunch pasta at Bar de Toule At the midstation we meet up with the Chamonix bandit crew for an out-standing plate of pasta at Bar de Toule.
But as soon as the lift opens after lunch beak we are off for more powder runs!
