Mounain Spirit Guiding
When we did our first scenic loop in Zion National Park we had to stop many times...
...autumn colours and sandstone mountains what a combination!
I spent most of the day relaxing and taking pictures.
It took some time to figure out the guide book. But when I saw this buttress I really wanted to climb it, and later we will!
For our first climb in Zion we chose the Iron Messiah .10 pitches and 5.10 at the most difficult part.
The climb starts of with a pitch of face climbing. 5.9 Peje on the lead.
On the second pitch the squeezing and pushing starts. The fist Chiminey pitch.
The 3rd pitch leads us into the main diheadral which the climb followes most of the way.
The climbing is steep and sustained , but there always is a crack in the corner to place some good protection.
On pitch 6 the crack in the corner widens and Peje is placing himself as a human camelot and squeezes up the chiminey.
After 9 pitches we are at the end of the dihedral, one more pitch to go!
